Strand Theatre: Scenes from Behind the Screen – 6:00-9:00 pm

Photographer Steve Leibrand and Strand Theatre Archivist Kara Long have combines their talents to bring you the first ever photographic expedition of hidden and forgotten treasures of the Historic Strand Theatre. They will show you places behind the screen that have been dark for many years.  Join them for an Opening Night Gallery reception from 6-9 pm at the City Art Center, 22 E. Winter St. (next door to the Strand Theatre). Artwork will be for sale with proceeds benefiting the Strand Theatre.

Central Ohio Symphony - 3 pm

Astronomer Jose' Francisco Salgado returns with the  Ohio premier of Astronomical Pictures at an Exhibition accompanied by the great music of Mussorgsky. Also featured are Ravel's La Valse and Legacies by local composer Clint Needham. The concert will also showcase Jeff Queen, drumming virtuoso, in the US orchestral premier of Prometheus Rapture by Ohio composer Sean Beeson.

New Vistas in Astronomy - 8 pm - "Black Holes for Beginners" by Paul Martini

This mini-course in astronomy will allow you to learn about the latest discoveries by astronomers and, on a clear night, to observe a variety of celestial objects with the 32-inch Schottland reflecting telescope. This lecture series is geared toward a more adult audience.
