Formed millions of years ago by the tremendous force of an underground river, the Olentangy Indian Caverns were thought to have been used by the Wyandotte Indians as a haven from the weather and their enemies, the Delaware Indians. Descend 105 feet below the surface of the earth and explore the winding passages of this three level cave. Bring your climbing legs for this 30 minute tour which is a great way to beat the summer heat in the cave's constant 54 degree temperature. Local Indian lore, a frontier town, gem mining, 18-hole miniature golf course, climbing wall and gift shop are also part of the Olentangy Indian Caverns experience. Open April-October. Gaze the galaxies, count the craters on the moon, and enjoy an entertaining, educational astronomy lesson along with an historical tour of this unique observatory built in 1923. The observatory is one man's dream, funded by income from raising pigs to feed the Union Army. The observatory's 32" mirror is the second largest telescope in the state. Soine (pronounced soy-knee) Vineyards, established in 2003, is situated on six acres located in Delaware County just four miles north of Powell. The winery produces approximately nine cultivars of grapes and offers quality, locally-produced red, white and blush table wines. Each wine is hand crafted to represent the natural characteristics of the grape and the stylistic preferences of the winemaker. Ohio Wildlife Center (OWC) is a leader in wildlife rehabilitation and conservation education. The OWC's 20 acre facility is located in southern Delaware County and is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Visit with the resident animals, take part in scheduled activities, explore the nature trails, browse the new OH' Wild gift shop, and enjoy unique wild bird-viewing stations.
