Cheer’s was a fictional bar in Boston.
Annie’s Wine Cottage is a real shop and wine bar in downtown Powell. Still, it’s a place where everybody knows your name. “We have a very loyal customer base and it’s definitely a ‘Cheers’ atmosphere,” said Manager Kim Gramelspacher.

“That’s one of the reasons I like working here. We are very welcoming to both new and old customers, alike. We like to say, ‘We sell happiness by the glass.’”Annie’s Wine Cottage, 30 W. Olentangy St., was opened in September 2017 by Anne and John Gabriel. Anne had been in the wine industry for more than 30 years and always wanted to open her own shop. When she found the Powell location was available, Anne knew it was the ideal place for a neighborhood wine shop and bar.

Annie’s Wine Cottage has an extensive retail section of wines, wine-related goods and locally produced chocolate. Kim said the shop prides itself on obtaining wines that you can’t find at large stores.“
“We know what our customers like and we do our best to provide them with unique bottles of wine at a fair price,” Kim said.

Guests to the bar can buy wine by the glass. Prepackaged food, such as cheese and charcuterie trays, are available for purchase. Patrons also are permitted to order-in food from local restaurants or bring their own picnics, which can be enjoyed in the bar, on the side patio, or on the picnic tables in the yard behind the shop. “We try to be accommodating and a place that you’ll want to come back and visit,” Kim said. Annie’s Wine Cottage has a wine club with three levels. Each level provides members with two bottles of wine a month.
