The new FieldhouseUSA at Polaris Fashion Place is more than 92,000-square feet of fun.It is the first FieldhouseUSA built in Ohio by the Texas-based company. It houses courts for basketball, volleyball and soccer, as well as a giant adventure park known as Airhouse, which houses games, trampolines, rock-climbing walls and jungle-gym style attractions.
CEO and partner Gary Oliver was on hand for the grand opening June 30. “We’re very positive about the Ohio market and our new Polaris location,” Gary said. “This is a great space and we have high hopes that it will serve as a launchpad for other Ohio locations.”Tamra Bower, general manager of Polaris Fashion Place, is equally enthused about the new tenant.“It’s going to be great for the entire area,” Tamra said. “This is going to bring a lot of young athletes here for tournaments and leagues. When that happens, it’s going to benefit all our restaurants, shops and hotels.”
Gary said the facility will attract about 1.6 million visitors annually. Using statistics from the company’s Texas facilities, he estimates that will result in 16,200 hotel room rentals each year. “When teams come from more than 54 miles, our research shows they usually stay in local hotels and eat in local restaurants,” Gary said. “You cannot underestimate the positive financial impact a FieldhouseUSA facility can have on an area.”
Gary said the facility will house leagues and tournaments for athletes as young as kindergarten and run up through adult. Those leagues and tournaments will include basketball, soccer, volleyball and dodgeball. The Airhouse section gives the brothers and sisters of athletes something to do during the down time. They can be burning off steam on the dodgeball trampolines while their siblings are busy with a tournament or game. “This is going to be a destination for a lot of people,” Gary said. “It’s a one-stop shop for Mom and Dad. They can keep everyone active.”
