There are only a few days left before the big game. That’s right, the Super Bowl, when Ohio’s beloved Cleveland Browns will take on . . . Oh, yeah, that’s right. But our Cincinnati Bengals are going to be . . . Oh, dang. That torn ligament thing in Burrow’s wrist.
Well, maybe next year, right?
While Ohio won’t be represented in the Super Bowl, this still football country, and there’s no better place to watch the game than Delaware County. We have the best sports bars and pubs in Central Ohio.
Here are some of the best places in the county to catch the Super Bowl.
- Son of Thurman – Two locations – 5 N. Sandusky St. in Delaware, and 31 W. Columbus St. in Galena. Don’t be a girly man. Tackle the Thurmanator.
- Big Walnut Grill – 175 St. Rt. 3 in Sunbury. It’s like Texas. Everything’s bigger at the Big Walnut – the space, the TVs and the menu.
- Water’s Edge Sports Grill – 5192 Cheshire Rd. in Galena. What’s not to like? Beer, pizza, stromboli and Dippin Dots.
- Buffalo Wild Wings – 807 Polaris Parkway in Westerville, and 475 N. Houk Rd. in Delaware. Don’t go waltzing in two minutes before kickoff thinking you’ll find a seat. Go early, stay late.
- Roosters – 1041 Gemini Place in Columbus. You know, the fun, casual joint. Five-alarm, Nu Killer sauce is not for sissies.
- PJ’s Family Restaurant – 571 W. Cherry St. in Sunbury. $35 Super Bowl Special gets you two drink tickets and pizza, apps and wings buffet.
- Wings and Rings – 8661 Columbus Pike in Lewis Center. Wings and rings, yes, but the chili is amazing, too.
- Scoreboard Pub & Grill – 6 Troy Road in Delaware. A great, locally owned sports pub. The self-proclaimed, “Best Damn Sports Pub In The Land.”
- Rusted Nail Grill & Tavern – 115 E. High St. in Ashley. A hidden gem in northern Delaware County. House-made sauces for the wings and, mmmmm, pretzel bites.
- Classics Bar – 742 N. State St. in Westerville. Beer, pizza and lots of parking.
- Keystone Pub & Patio – 6477 Pullman Dr. in Lewis Center, and 1081 Gemini Place in Columbus. Great wings and 30 flatscreens. Try the Perfect Margarita.
- Third Base Pint House – 9215 Dublin Rd. in Powell. Loaded fries and tots, and an amazing taco salad.
- Gallop’s Bar and Kitchen – 240 N. Liberty St. in Powell. Great menu and lots of room.
- Murphy McFlips – 1037 Polaris Parkway in Columbus. It’s not just for St. Patrick’s Day. Stop in on Super Bowl Sunday.
- Prohibition Gasto Lounge – 21 W. Olentangy St. in Powell. Extensive bourbon collection. Try the Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
- Nocterra Brewing Company – 41 Depot St. in Powell. One of the best microbrews in Central Ohio.
- Firehouse Tavern – 38 S. Vernon St. in Sunbury. Lots of Super Bowl specials.
