If you have a question about popular music, stroll on down to 11 West Winter Street in Delaware to the eclectic Endangered Species - The Last Record Store On Earth. Pat Bailey will have the answer.

Pat has operated his music store for 40 years in Delaware. It is the oldest, continually operating business downtown. He started his business on Nov. 1, 1980 because he loved music and thought “Delaware needed a record store.”

If you want it on CD or vinyl, Pat can either find it in his voluminous collection or he can locate somewhere in his string of contacts. He specializes in old and new vinyl, which he notes has been making a big comeback with music lovers.

“People want something tangible that they can hold in their hands and add to a collection,” Pat said. “Vinyl has been coming back for several years. People like holding a record in their hands. And it’s not just the older generation. Younger music lovers are discovering albums and they love them.” Pat noted that it is not only classic rock being reproduced as vinyl, but current artists are releasing new albums on vinyl.
